A Little Bit of Luck

Ivory and Jasper are wealthy, high-born, and now orphans. Now they are fighting for their survival until Jasper becomes an adult and can claim their inheritance. After Ivory’s brother is forced into a military squad, Ivory sets out to follow him. She has a gift, and she knows she can protect her brother with it, and make it all look as if it’s just luck. But when the captain of the squad discovers Ivory is following them, and learns about her magical gift, Ivory agrees to serve beside her brother until he is released. Now all they have to do is survive, which is no easy task. Not only do they have enemies grasping at their fortune, but the captain of the squad has his own enemies trying to destroy him. As Ivory fights to survive the year alongside the men in the well-known Death Squad, she finds herself wondering how she’s going to leave after her service is complete when she’s grown attached to the men in the squad, and to one man in particular.
